Luc Defferrard, partner with Walder Wyss since 2001, has been active in the finance and legal industry for many years. He mainly advises clients in domestic and cross-border mergers & acquisitions, financing, restructuring as well as in real estate and capital market. Luc Defferrard particularly focuses on private equity and venture capital transactions.

Prior to joining Walder Wyss, Luc Defferrard was working for seven years with UBS in Geneva, Zurich and New York as client manager and project manager in corporate and structured finance. In this position he developed the bank’s structured finance offerings to clients in the French part of Switzerland.

Walder Wyss Ltd.’s team is particularly strong in lending and structured finance transactions, and is active at the international level for a range of high-profile clients. Co-leading the team is regulatory and fintech expert Thomas Müller, Lukas Wyss, who specialises in domestic and cross-border finance transactions, and Theodor Härtsch, who focuses on leveraged finance, syndicated lending, and structured finance work. Other core team members include Luc Defferrard, Johannes Bürgi, and David Borer, who joined from Homburger in July 2022. Associate Roger Ammann has experience in asset based financings.

The ‘highly qualified and experienced’ Walder Wyss Ltd. team has expertise in both domestic and multi-jurisdictional private and public M&A transactions, supported by significant capital markets proficiency. Alex Nikitine, whose practice covers M&A transactions, public tender offers, IPOs and venture capital, co-leads the department with Stefan Knobloch, who has additional experience in public takeovers, debt financing, and corporate governance matters. Urs Gnos heads the transactions team, while Markus Vischer and Luc Defferrard focus on private equity and venture capital. Hans-Jakob Diem joined from Lenz & Staehelin in September 2023.
