The ‘responsive’ team at Allen & Overy Bratislava, s.r.o. has ‘robust arbitration expertise’. Martin Magal led advice to Slovenské elektrárne in a dispute before the Vienna International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) regarding a €588m claim against the Ministry of the Economy and various state entities. Counsel Lucia Raimanova provides a ‘good service’ and senior associate Juraj Gyarfas is also recommended.

Dentons is involved in high-profile and sensitive constitutional disputes and is commended for its ‘highly practical and strategic approach’. It represented the City of Martin in a Slovak Constitutional Court infringement case which included examining the right to a fair trial. Former Minister of Justice Daniel Lipšic, who joined as counsel in December 2016 and handles criminal litigation and defence work, jointly heads the team with the ‘brilliantPeter Kubina. Counsel Martin Mendel is also recommended.

Paul Q Law Firm’s ‘flexible’ and ‘thorough’ department is noted for its media sector expertise. It is advising News and Media Holding on disputes regarding freedom of speech, unfair competition claims and copyright infringement. Tomáš Kamenec heads the team.

The ‘inventive, smart, solid and diligent’ team at Čechová & Partners has a ‘strong’ arbitration practice. It is advising an Italian client in a dispute before the VIAC. Katarína Čechová is ‘very experienced’ and heads the team.

Kinstellar’s ‘responsive’ team is representing VAŠA Slovensko in a dispute regarding a fine brought by the Slovak Antimonopoly Office, and in a separate European Court of Human Rights case regarding the legality of a dawn raid. Team head Roman Oleksik is ‘precise, pragmatic, knowledgeable and professional’. Counsel Viliam Myšička is also recommended.

The ‘experienced’ team at Squire Patton Boggs s.r.o. is working alongside colleagues in several international offices in representing the Republic of Croatia in two parallel arbitrations: ICSID proceedings and an UNCITRAL arbitration. Tatiana Prokopová heads the team.

Wolf Theiss is representing the Polish State Treasury in a €140m restructuring case against construction company Doprastav. Counsel Katarina Bielikova is noted. Ľuboš Frolkovič left the firm to establish Frolkovic Legal.

Glatzová & Co., s. r. o. advised Mazda in proceedings with the Slovak Antimonopoly Office regarding a potential breach of competition rules. Jiří Sixta heads the team.

Legate S.R.O delivers a ‘first-class service’ and handles a range of construction claims, shareholder disputes, tax disputes, and general commercial cases. Peter Vrabel is a ‘smart and strategic negotiator and always thinks one step ahead’.

Noerr s.r.o is regularly engaged by Volkswagen Slovakia in disputes. Senior associate Martin Ťupek heads the team and is ‘an experienced litigator’. Pavol Rak is also a key team member.
