Hung has been a recognised leading lawyer in Banking & Finance and Capital Markets by various international legal magazines, such as the International Who’s Who of Capital Markets Lawyers, IFLR 1000, Legal 500, Chambers & Partners, and AsiaLaw. AsiaLaw has recommended Hung as a Leading Lawyer in Capital Markets since 2015. From 2016, IFLR 1000 has recognised him as a leading lawyer in Financial and Corporate law. Hung has been listed in the list of Vietnam’s top 100 lawyers conducted by Asia Business Law Journal in 2020 and 2021.

Hung’s practice includes foreign direct investment, banking, capital markets, and project finance. Significant transactions that he has advised on include: the financing in an amount of nearly US$800 million by a group of Korean financial institutions of the Keangnam Landmark Tower in Hanoi, the tallest building in Vietnam; the financing to Dakdrink Hydropower Plant by Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank; the sale of Citigroup’s Vietnam retail banking business to United Overseas Bank (Vietnam) Limited; the first domestic syndication in a total amount of US$225 million by Vietnamese banks led by PetroVietnam Finance Corporation (PVFC) for an offshore investment project in the energy sector; the US$180 million refinancing of the Bitexco Financial Tower and the acquisition of Prudential Vietnam Finance Company by Shinhan Card Ltd. Hung has also been working in the majority of corporate bond issues guaranteed by the ADB’s Credit Guarantee and Investment Facility (CGIF) including the first project bond for a renewable energy project, the Hong Phong 1 Power Plant as well as recent domestic bond issues with a total value of over US$2 billion by the Vingroup JSC and its subsidiaries.

Hung is also the contact lawyer advising on day-to-day operation issues and syndicated and bilateral financing of bank clients such as Citibank NA, Mizuho Corporate Bank, Bank of Tokyo and Mitsubishi UFJ, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, CIMB Vietnam, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and Standard Chartered Bank as well as other major domestic banks. He assisted in developing model transactional contracts and security documents for several of the banks mentioned above and other large domestic banks.
