Specialist in advising on setting up foreign companies in Portugal, as well on M&A transactions, corporate restructuring, loan financing and debt issues.

Gonçalo Bastos Lopes is an expert in direct and transactional taxation (national and international). He advises multinational groups, institutional investors and investment funds on structuring their investments in Portugal, particularly in the real estate and debt sectors.

He started his career as a tax consultant in 1996, and over the course of 10 years he worked in international auditing companies, two of which were based in Spain.

From 2001 to 2002, he lectured on the International Taxation module in the Postgraduate studies in Finance (distance learning) at Instituto Superior de Gestão in Lisbon.

He speaks regularly and offers training at various seminars and workshops on taxation in Portugal and abroad.

He has published several articles and contributed to many national and international publications on tax matters.
