Frederico Bettencourt has handled complex national and international disputes in sectors such as information technology, banking, automotive, construction, energy and aviation.

He has extensive experience in class actions and antitrust private enforcement proceedings over breaches of competition law, privacy rights and consumer rights.

He has participated as a lawyer in ad hoc and institutional arbitration proceedings (ICC, LCIA, CAC/CCIP), mainly involving disputes relating to Portuguese-speaking countries.

In addition to practicing law, he acts as an arbitrator.

He is on the arbitrator list at the Commercial Arbitration Center of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and is a member of the Spanish Spanish and Iberoamerican Arbitration Club.

He was coordinator of the Spanish and Iberoamerican Arbitration Club under 40 section (CEIA-40). He was a consulting attorney at US law firm Arent Fox, LLP (2013-2014) and represented the government of Timor-Leste in several disputes with international oil companies.

He regularly publishes articles about national and international arbitration and speaks at conferences and courses on arbitration in Portugal and abroad.
