Adam Bialek (Partner-New York) weighed in on the changes
necessary for compliance as the internet has affected the way
individuals communicate and how business is conducted. In
"Protecting Your Rights and Assets While Minimizing
Exposure," which appeared in the August 2018 edition of
DRI's For the Defense, Adam points out that companies have been
slow to recognize how advances in technology can drive new legal
risks. His article highlights areas that need to be addressed and
why a periodic website and social media e-audit should be
considered as part of a company's compliance routine. Topics
that can be assessed during an e-audit include domain name
registration, development agreements, trademarks and copyrights,
terms of use, disclaimers, privacy policies, child protection,
terms of sale, data security and compliance with the Americans With
Disabilities Act, among others.
