Today's entry reports on the end of the light touch review
of Planning Act guidance and the imminent start of the 2014
review.
If you have come across this blog post on the internet, you may
not be aware that 'light touch review' and '2014
review' are special terms relating to the planning and
authorisation of nationally significant infrastructure projects.
Otherwise, read on.
The light touch review was a consultation on, and production of,
a second edition of all the guidance documents surrounding the
Planning Act 2008 regime. The 2014 review is a more comprehensive
(in terms of scope, but not scale) review of the regime after five
years of operation.
Light touch review
On Tuesday the government published its response to the light
touch review consultation (which concluded, ahem, 15 months
earlier), and it can be found here. The document
reveals that there were only 37 responses to the consultation,
which is an unsurprising but slightly disappointing figure.
