Career
Fernando Samaniego joined Prieto in 1988 and has been a partner since 1998. He currently heads the Litigation and Arbitration Department.
He heads the dispute resolution area and is counsel in lawsuits and proceedings before ordinary and arbitral courts regarding diverse matters that include disputes relating to construction, insurance, property and administrative law and environmental issues.
He has also been legal counsel in proceedings before administrative and regulatory authorities and has acted as arbitrator.
He works actively in the Unrestricted Competition Department and is involved in diverse proceedings before the Antitrust Court.
During his career, he has practiced in several areas of the law, including the Capital Market, Mergers and Acquisitions, Property Law and Construction, and has been legal counsel in major transactions and projects.
He studied law at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and he is a member of the Chilean Bar Association since 1989. He is currently Director of Aguas Andinas S.A and he is on the arbitrators roster of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Santiago Chamber of Commerce and of the National Arbitration Center. He has spoken at many seminars and conferences on Arbitration and Unrestricted Competition.
