Career

José María Eyzaguirre García de la Huerta is currently the senior partner of the firm and the head of the Litigation practice. Mr. Eyzaguirre has an extensive experience in Litigation and Arbitration matters. He has acted in many of the most renowned litigation and arbitral cases in Chile in the last 30 years. He has been chosen by Chambers and Partners as one of the most reputed litigators in Chile continuously for the past years. 

He has been a professor of Civil Law at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile for the last 40 years and he is also a professor in the same field at Universidad de Chile.

From 1974 through 1977 he was Chairman of the commission that drafted the “Property Section” of the current Chilean Constitution. He was also a member of the commission that studied the amendment to the Chilean Civil Code on family law matters,1986-1989. In addition, Mr. Eyzaguirre has been a member of the commission that studied a project of Uniform Civil and Commercial Code,1996-1998.

He joined Claro & Cia. as a partner in 1969.
