Mr. Ramírez Garrido specializes in the areas of banking and finance, bankruptcy and restructurings, with an emphasis in acquisition finance, structured finance, asset-backed financing, real estate financing, corporate financing and project finance, as well as in structuring and implementing complex collateral packages.

Mr. Ramírez Garrido represents a variety of clients in all kinds of banking and finance transactions.  Among others, he regularly advises international and domestic banks, investment banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions and institutional investors, as well as corporate borrowers, in a wide variety of financial transactions, including single bank and syndicated facilities, secured and unsecured local and cross-border loans, senior and mezzanine loans, real estate finance and project finance transactions.

Most notably, Mr. Ramírez Garrido recently represented one of the world’s leading investment firms in the largest debt financing ever in Mexican history and one of the largest in Latin America (worth US$3.4 billion), for the acquisition of the lending platform and related commercial real estate mortgage loan portfolio of the largest non-bank commercial lender in Mexico, which also marked a breakthrough for the Mexican real estate market (awarded the Loan Deal of the Year by IFLR´s American Awards 2016 and the Corporate Finance Deal of the Year by Latin Lawyer 2016).

In the realm of his lending practice, Mr. Ramírez Garrido has advised Mexican REITS (FIBRAs) on the largest and second largest real estate acquisition financings in Mexican history. Mr. Ramírez Garrido regularly represents one of the largest global insurance company and its Mexican subsidiary in their financing transactions in Mexico, including the recent refinancing of the Torre Mayor Building located in the Reforma corridor in Mexico City.

His work is recognized and has been consistently ranked or featured as a leading practitioner in the fields of banking, finance and restructuring by various international publications, including Chambers and Partners Latin America, Chambers and Partners Global, IFLR 1000, The Legal 500, Who’s Who Legal, Latin Lawyer and Best Lawyers. He has also been consistently recognized as LACCA approved by the Latin America Corporate Counsel Association.

He received his law degree (JD) from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City in 1996 and obtained his LL.M degree from New York University Law School in 2000.
