AIMA Cayman Executive Committee (Member Representative)
The team at Campbells ‘provides keen insight in respect of establishing fund structures’, particularly venture capital fund formations for fintech clients. Headed up by Alan Craig, who regularly assists investment funds and managers with debt structuring and financing issues, the group also advises clients on the structuring, formation and launch of hedge, private equity and hybrid funds. Richard Spencer and Robert Searle ‘both have expertise in the regulation of the investment management industry’, while Simon Thomas is vastly experienced in the fund space due to his previous work for fund managers at leading US onshore private equity fund formation practices. Another name to note is senior associate Aoife Tuohy, who frequently advises cryptocurrency fund managers.
At Campbells, the corporate team has a notable track record in complex corporate reorganisations and international M&A transactions. Regularly instructed by multinational corporations and financial services providers, the group provides advice that is ‘nuanced and commercial‘. Managing partner John Wolf has extensive experience in the financial services sector, while corporate practice head Alan Craig receives instructions on a broad range of transactions. Richard Spencer regularly advises start-ups and established technology companies with corporate structuring and fundraising matters. Joint ventures and mining and natural resource transactions are further areas of focus for the team.
Cayman managing partner John Wolf and corporate practice head Alan Craig jointly lead Campbells’ banking, finance, and capital markets group, which has a particular focus on equity financing matters, as well as venture capital fundraisings for technology companies. Handling transactions for lenders and corporate borrowers, the team is also capable of assisting clients with debt financing arrangements, typically in the form of convertible loan notes. Other key names include senior associate Charlie Pywell and Richard Spencer; the latter specialises in capital markets transactions, including stock market listings, downstream transactions and fund financing matters.
