Richard is a partner in Campbells’ Corporate Department. His practice covers Cayman and BVI investment funds, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, equity capital markets and corporate finance. Prior to joining Campbells, Richard practised at Ashurst and Ogier. He read law at Oxford University.

The team at Campbells ‘provides keen insight in respect of establishing fund structures’, particularly venture capital fund formations for fintech clients. Headed up by Alan Craig, who regularly assists investment funds and managers with debt structuring and financing issues, the group also advises clients on the structuring, formation and launch of hedge, private equity and hybrid funds. Richard Spencer and Robert Searle  ‘both have expertise in the regulation of the investment management industry’, while Simon Thomas is vastly experienced in the fund space due to his previous work for fund managers at leading US onshore private equity fund formation practices. Cayman managing partner John Wolf and corporate practice head Alan Craig jointly lead Campbells’ banking, finance, and capital markets group, which has a particular focus on equity financing matters, as well as venture capital fundraisings for technology companies. Handling transactions for lenders and corporate borrowers, the team is also capable of assisting clients with debt financing arrangements, typically in the form of convertible loan notes. Other key names include senior associate Charlie Pywell and Richard Spencer; the latter specialises in capital markets transactions, including stock market listings, downstream transactions and fund financing matters.
