Position

Alexa is head of the trusts and private wealth group in Jersey and has a broad non-contentious trust practice.

Alexa regularly advises in connection with private family trusts, employee benefit trusts and pension trusts, including on the establishment of new trust structures, drafting trust and ancillary instruments and advising in connection with the ongoing administration and restructuring of complex trust structures. Alexa also advises in connection with philanthropic and charitable structures as well as foundations.

Alexa is ranked by both Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners High Net Worth, and features in the 2024 Private Client Global Elite Directory.

Career

Alexa trained and qualified with a law firm in London in 2005 and then qualified as a Jersey Advocate in 2009. Prior to joining Carey Olsen in 2011, Alexa was a senior associate in the trusts group of another law firm in Jersey. She became a partner at Carey Olsen in 2016.

Acting for HNWIs, family offices and trustees alike, Carey Olsen advises on matters tied to the establishment and restructuring of Jersey-based trusts. The department is also frequently instructed on contentious matters arising out of the actions of trustees. Practice head Alexa Saunders supports clients in both semi- and non-contentious matters, including the setting up of trusts and philanthropic vehicles, and subsequent restructurings. Robert Dobbyn is also able to assist with such matters, acting for a client base spread across Europe and the Middle East. Contentious matters are the domain of Andreas Kistler, who represents plaintiffs and defendants in breach of trust and professional negligence hearings. Keith Dixon is noted for advising on succession and estate planning issues, with Stephen Fitzgerald focusing on pension and employee benefits-related trust structures.
