Position

Mike is a senior associate in the litigation team in Jersey, specialising in contentious regulatory matters.

Mike is a subject matter specialist in financial services, franchising, international trade and sanctions. He is trusted by clients to simplify complex legal matters and deliver value-added solutions. Mike is admitted in England & Wales (Solicitor) and South Africa (Attorney).

Career

Mike qualified as an attorney in South Africa in 2019, following two years of articles in the commercial disputes team at a boutique Cape Town firm. He subsequently worked as an associate in the commercial disputes team of an international firm in England. Mike qualified as an English solicitor in 2023.

Mike is recognised for his knowledge of Incoterms, managing legal risk in international supply chains and cross-border contracting. He has spent more than a decade as a regular guest lecturer at Stellenbosch University teaching these subjects.

Mike holds a BSc (financial modelling) (UNISA), LLB (University of Cape Town), BPhil (cum laude) (Maritime Studies) (Stellenbosch University) and MPhil (cum laude) (Maritime Studies) (Stellenbosch University). He is a certified commercial mediator (University of Cape Town) and a Member of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb).
