Career

Rafael is Head of Birketts’ Corporate and Commercial Team in Chelmsford. He joined in 1995 and became a Partner in 2001 specialising in corporate and commercial law.

He has experience of corporate mergers, acquisitions and disposals and advises clients on general corporate governance issues, shareholders’ agreements and joint ventures.

On the commercial front, Rafael has experience of a wide range of commercial matters, advising clients on international and domestic agency, distribution and other commercial arrangements, including UK and EU Competition Law implications of such arrangements.

In particular Rafael has extensive experience of advising clients on outsourcing and facilities/building management contracts. That experience includes advising some of the country’s largest providers of security, cleaning and other maintenance and support services, in respect of public and private sector facilities throughout the country, including key transport and infrastructure facilities such as airports and rail facilities.
