Career
Alfonso is a recognized corporate and financial lawyer with more than 18 years of experience. His practice focuses on general corporate advisory, banking and finance, capital markets, M&A, restructuring, workouts and insolvency.
Before founding Del Castillo y Castro Abogados, Alfonso worked at Santamarina y Steta since 1999, where he was appointed partner in 2012. He worked as an international lawyer with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in New York. Alfonso participates in the corporate governance bodies of La Comer and Corporación GEO, among others, has been a board member of other companies and was a member of the disciplinary committee of the Mexican Stock Exchange.
Alfonso graduated from the Universidad Anáhuac (2001), with postgraduate studies in Finance from the Universidad Iberoamericana. He received his LL.M. from Northwestern University of Law (2004) and has a certificate in Business Administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management (2004) and has completed the General Management Program (AD) 2016, Instituto Panamericano de Alta Dirección de Empresas (IPADE), Mexico. He is fluent in Spanish and English.
