Career

Before joining Marinovic & Alcalde, in 2019, he was a partner at Philippi PrietoCarriozosa Ferrero DU & Uría (PPU), and led the dispute resolution area during 2008-2014. From 2006-2008, he was an associate lawyer at Rodríguez, Vergara y Cía. Additionally, he was the chief legal officer (CLO) at Punta de Lobos during 2001-2006, and at Prospecta during 1996-1998. Between 1993-1995, he was the general counsel at Enersis and was appointed as Legal Adviser of the Central Bank of Chile. During 1992-1995 he was general counsel of Chilectra. At the beginning of his career, he was an attorney for the Central Bank of Chile.

Marinovic & Alcalde Abogados‘ litigation practice routinely acts in major civil and commercial conflicts that play out before Chile’s ordinary courts of justice, Courts of Appeal and Supreme Court. The six-strong group also makes frequent appearances before arbitration tribunals; and is additionally expert in administrative sanctioning procedures, competition disputes, and insolvency-related claims, along with mining, water, aquaculture and consumer law-related disputes. The practice is led by Enrique Alcalde who specialises in the litigation of disputes concerning corporate governance, power and gas, M&As, and construction and engineering. Providing further partner-level support, Benjamín García ‘stands out because he focuses on keeping clients informed‘; Nicolás Marinovic‘s civil litigation practice covers contractual liability, torts, and real estate lease-related proceedings; and Tomás Ruiz-Tagle, whose broad caseload includes defence-side civil and administrative matters, claims against government agencies, constitutional issues, energy and natural resources-related disputes, and corporate and commercial conflicts. Marinovic & Alcalde Abogados‘ six-strong team is experienced in conflicts involving shareholders and company boards, as well as arbitrations concerning public infrastructure, large-scale project concessions, construction, engineering, M&A, and oil and gas, aas swell as trusts, estates, and high-net-worth family assets. The dispute resolution and arbitration team is led by Enrique Alcalde, one of 20 members of the Arbitral Commission for the Chilean Public Concession System (since 2018), whose track record also includes being a CAM Santiago arbitrator in several contract liability proceedings.
