GSK Stockmann
10117 BERLIN

Construction (including construction litigation) Tier 2

GSK Stockmann's construction practice stands out for the diversity of its advice's objects. The client roster of Jan Kehrberg's large practice group includes several listed international companies as well as three of Berlin's housing associations. Accordingly, the group's established expertise in conversion and extension of production sites is complemented by its strength in assisting with all aspects of residential high-rise development projects. In the infrastructure projects area the firm was able to develop skills in special civil engineering, while the comprehensive advice on a new city quarter reflects the team's capacities related to the realisation of major construction projects. Member of the state parliament and planning lawyer Josef Schmid joined the firm as equity partner in November 2018 on a part-time basis. Associate Kerstin von Staa is recommended for public construction law and planning law as well as for matters at the interface to environmental law and transactional matters.

Financial services: regulatory Tier 3

GSK Stockmann provides its clients, including several banks and asset managers, with a wide range of banking regulatory law advice. This includes classic banking regulatory matters such as those pertaining to the UCITS Directive, AIFM, MiFID II, the Anti-Money Laundering Amendment, PSD 2 and capital requirements, but the team also provides assistance with the Brexit-related relocation of business divisions to Germany and Luxembourg (where clients benefit from the strong cooperation with Andreas Heinzmann's Luxembourg-based team), including associated regulatory and capital markets law matters. Transactional mandates and sectoral digitalisation issues, such as consumer authentication models, are also part of the team's workload. The last-mentioned segment was further strengthened by the arrival of fintech expert Tobias Riethmüller in January 2019, who was previously at Schiedermair Rechtsanwälte, while the team also received a boost when Okko Hendrik Behrends joined from DLA Piper in November of the same year. He has particular expertise in representing banks before the Administrative Board of Review of the European Central Bank and before European courts. Robert Kramer and Timo Bernau jointly head the team from Munich.
