Mr Frederik van Nouhuys
Position
Frederik is specialized in Procurement law and Construction Law. Frederik acts for both commissioning clients and contractors. In the area of construction law he has been/is involved in the handling of bouwclaims (construction claims) relating to the Betuweroute and the Noord-Zuidlijn in Amsterdam. As regards procurement law the ComforMed case and the legal actions on behalf of Connexxion and Veolia about procurement in the public transport market are high profile examples of his practice.
Career
Whilst still a student he worked as a paralegal at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, where he was employed as a lawyer in 1998. Since then he has specialised in procurement and construction law in the broadest sense. He litigates and advises in these areas of law. Since 1 January 2008 Frederik has been a partner at Straatman Koster Advocaten. Frederik publishes regularly in the area of current issues in procurement law and is the co-author of Aanbestedingsrecht (Procurement Law), the legal handbook in this area of law. He also appears regularly as a speaker at seminars and Post Doc courses for the Instituut voor Bouwrecht (Construction Law Institute), the VU Amsterdam Law Academy, the Grotius Academie, the University of Utrecht and the Dutch Bar. He is also one of the few Dutch lawyers listed in the Who’s Who Legal for Public Procurement (2012-2015).

Frederik is a member of the editorial board of the procurement law journal ‘Tijdschrift voor Aanbestedingsrecht’ and a member of the Construction Law Association (VBR) and the Dutch Procurement Law Association (NVvA).
Frederik is also one of the nineteen Dutch lawyers who were listed in the 2012 edition of the Who’s Who Legal for Public Procurement.
Education
Frederik graduated from Leiden University in 1998.
