Career

Gelu Goran is a founding partner of Biriş Goran, acting primarily in the areas of competition/antitrust law for over 24 years.

He focuses on cartel investigations and dealt with cases ranging from leniency and settlements to representation in cartel investigations before the national competition authority.

He advised  clients in bid-rigging or price-fixing cartels in industries ranging from banking and fast moving consumer goods to construction materials, tobacco or energy. He specialized in dominance abusive conduct and pricing for dominant companies and was the lead lawyer in a landmark Romanian leniency case on the public procurement on the oil & gas market.

Early in his career he worked at the Romanian Competition Council and has a LL.M. degree focused on antitrust and business law with the Northwestern University School of Law, as a Fulbright scholar.
