The firm: The Austrian law firm Jank Weiler Operenyi Rechtsanwälte GmbH (JWO) offers tailored legal advice to Austrian and international companies, institutions and individuals. JWO was established in the year 2011 by Andreas Jank and Maximilian Weiler. Before setting up JWO, both Andreas and Maximilian had long-term careers in Austrian, as well as international, corporate law firms (as associates and junior partners).

With the arrival of the new partner Alexander Operenyi in March 2014, the local and international corporate and M&A practice of JWO was further strengthened. Alexander joined the firm after nine years at Freshfields (Vienna/London), where he worked on some of the largest Austrian and international M&A transactions as well as on high-end corporate litigation matters.

In 2017, JWO joined Deloitte Legal, the growing global lawyer network with more than 2,000 professionals in more than 77 countries worldwide, as Austrian member firm. Due to its close co-operation with Deloitte’s tax advisors, auditors, consultants as well as financial advisory and risk advisory and forensic experts, JWO is now able to offer the advantages of a one-stop shop service in an international environment for all business law issues and to provide full scope of legal services to its clients.

Areas of practice: Commercial, corporate and M&A: JWO advises Austrian and international clients in all areas of corporate and business law as well as restructurings. In addition, the team has long-term experience and broad expertise in supporting national and cross-border M&A, private equity, venture capital and joint venture transactions in various economic and industrial sectors.

Banking and finance: JWO advises banks, insurance companies and other financial service providers, in the context of regulatory banking, insurance and financial services law as well as in connection with general banking and insurance contract law.

Real estate: JWO provides advice in all areas of real estate law, in particular in the purchase and sale as well as financing (credit and leasing), restructuring and project development of national and cross-border real estate projects. JWO’s expertise also includes public real estate law as well as tenancy and housing law.

Employment: JWO offers advice in all areas of individual and collective employment law as well as representation before public authorities and courts.

Intellectual property, TMT, IT and outsourcing: JWO advises in all areas of intellectual and industrial property rights, information technology, unfair competition law and data protection law as well as media law. JWO’s main focus is on the drafting of contractual agreements and strategy development as well as on (extra) judicial enforcement of rights.

EU and competition, compliance: JWO advises in all areas of antitrust law. JWO’s legal consulting services include the conduct of merger control proceedings, representation in antitrust proceedings as well as advice on distribution antitrust law.

White-collar crime: JWO advises in all areas of criminal law relating to economic and fiscal offences as well as on corruption charges and represents in criminal proceedings before public authorities and courts. In addition, JWO supports companies in relation to internal investigations as well as investigations by law enforcement authorities. JWO also represents companies that have been damaged by white-collar crime.

Dispute resolution: JWO represents corporations and private clients in front of court and within arbitration proceedings and with respect to alternative conflict settlement. In addition, JWO handles the structuring and execution of claim management and claim enforcement.

Private client: JWO advises and supports national and international family offices, foundations and high-net-worth individuals in all areas of wealth and private asset management.
