Georg Konrad is a partner with CERHA HEMPEL since 2008.

Prior to working with CERHA HEMPEL he has been advising both as an external lawyer as well as an in house counsel in the EUR 750 million Austrian electronic highway tolling project, which is one of the most prominent IT/technology projects in Austria to date. Due to this project background, he is active in all areas of technology and IT/IP related projects.

Georg is a leading Austrian attorney in the areas of information technology, telecommunications and similar fields. For example, he regularly assists Austrian and global clients with IT contracts, international data transfers and a broad variety of technology projects.

Cerha Hempel has recently shifted its focus from assisting contracting authorities to primarily acting for the bidding side, including handling self-purification and bid rigging. Georg Konrad specialises in infrastructure and technology projects; Stefan Huber is a key name in the field of higher education procurement; and Michaela Siegwart, who was promoted to partner in 2019, has experience of utilities procurement. The trio jointly head the practice.

Cerha Hempel assists with projects and energy work by leveraging multiple departments throughout the firm. The practice is particularly singled out for its expertise in energy M&A, which is handled by Clemens Hasenauer and Johannes Aehrenthal in the corporate transactions team; in recent highlights, the group advised OMV on its purchase of a stake in an oil refining company and acted on General Electric’s sale of its distributed power business. Public law group head Hans Kristoferitsch leads on regulatory matters and represented the Republic of Austria in several state aid cases. Real estate and construction leader Peter Vcelouch acted for Lidl on several construction projects. Georg Konrad and Thomas Trettnak also contribute to the practice.

Over recent years, the team has developed a particularly strong reputation for providing data protection advice.
