Jaap specialises in trade mark, copyright and design (‘soft IP’) disputes and transactions, as well as in patent disputes. He represents clients from various industries, particularly the food, telecommunications, media/social media and automotive industries. He assists clients in negotiating on and arranging the transfer of trade mark and patent portfolios, collaboration and R&D agreements, licensing agreements and technology transfers.

Jaap started his career in 2001 at Simmons & Simmons. He joined BarentsKrans in 2008, where he became partner in 2016.
