Akin Continues Energy & Infrastructure Practice Growth with Addition of Leading Lawyers in New York and Washington, D.C.

(New York and Washington, D.C.) – Akin announced today that Ron Erlichman and Nick Atwood have joined the firm’s market-leading energy & infrastructure practice as partners in the firm’s New York and Washington, D.C. offices, respectively. Joining from Linklaters, where Erlichman served as co-head of the firm’s energy & infrastructure practice in the Americas, Erlichman and Atwood further strengthen Akin’s premier energy & infrastructure platform advising clients on their most in-demand projects, including traditional and renewable power generation, battery storage, data centers, carbon capture, synthetic fuels and other energy transition projects as well as mining and other infrastructure transactions. Erlichman and Atwood focus their practice on the development, financing, acquisition and sale of energy & infrastructure projects, including conventional and renewable electrical power, energy transition projects, data centers, battery storage, hydrogen, synthetic fuels, carbon capture, utilization & storage (CCUS), transmission facilities, chemical and petrochemical facilities, terminals, and transportation projects. Akin Expands Capital Solutions Platform with Addition of Leading Private Credit Partner Heather Waters Borthwick in New York

Borthwick brings extensive experience in the performing private credit market, further strengthening Akin’s one-stop platform for private capital investors pursuing opportunities across the capital structure. Borthwick joins Akin from DLA Piper, with a practice focused on direct lending and other transactions on the private credit spectrum. Former HHS-OIG Assistant Inspector General for Legal Affairs Lisa Re Joins Arnold & Porter

WASHINGTON, D.C., September 2, 2025 — Arnold & Porter announced today that Lisa Re has joined the firm’s Life Sciences & Healthcare Regulatory practice as a partner, resident in Washington, D.C. Mahnu Davar and Allison Shuren, co-chairs of Arnold & Porter’s Life Sciences & Healthcare Regulatory practice, said: “Lisa’s broad experience garnered over two decades in significant leadership positions within HHS Office of Inspector General will complement and expand the strategic counseling and government investigation work of our existing healthcare and life sciences regulatory and enforcement teams. Her first-hand knowledge of healthcare fraud enforcement, OIG compliance program expectations, and processes governing OIG administrative interactions and advisory opinion requests will be invaluable to life sciences and healthcare clients.” As the former Assistant Inspector General for Legal Affairs and Acting Chief Counsel, Re was HHS’s representative for False Claims Act cases and spent years coordinating with the U.S. Department of Justice on these matters. She led OIG’s administrative litigation and exclusion program, established enforcement priorities, and oversaw OIG’s self-disclosure protocol. Re has deep experience advising on complex issues and laws such as the Anti-Kickback Statute, Civil Monetary Penalties Law, Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA), Information Blocking, and the Exclusions Statute. She was responsible for OIG’s compliance policy and Corporate Integrity Agreement enforcement, helping to strengthen the agency’s oversight of the pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical technology industries.
