Career

Manuel is a member of the tax team and co-coordinates the firm’s shipping practice.

Manuel is the resident lawyer in charge of the firm’s Madeira office and of the company MLGT Madeira – Management & Investment, S.A.

His main areas of practice include corporate and financial law, particularly mergers and acquisitions, and international agreements, as well as the shipping area, with a special focus on operations within the scope of the International Shipping Register of Madeira (“MAR”).

Manuel has also robust expertise in the incorporation and management of companies licensed to operate in the IBC of Madeira, as well as in providing legal assistance to them.

In 2005, Manuel worked for a European Union’s financing institution in Luxembourg.

Between 2008 and 2018 he was responsible for the course on corporate law and anti-money laundering in the trainee program for the Madeira Section of the Portuguese Bar Association.

Manuel Freitas Pita is the President of the General Meeting of APCINM – Association of the Professionals of the Madeira International Business Center.
