Nicholas specialises in complex and high-value commercial and business disputes in a wide range of sectors including banking and finance, life sciences, energy and natural resources, defence, insurance, aviation, international trade and infrastructure projects.

He is regularly instructed on interlocutory matters (including jurisdiction disputes, applications for interim remedies such as freezing, search, imaging and Norwich Pharmacal orders and letters of request) and for trial as well as in connection with the enforcement of judgments and arbitration awards (both English and foreign).

His practice is thoroughly international. In addition to regular appearances in the Commercial Court and in the Chancery Division, he has appeared before the Courts of the Grand Cayman, the British Virgin Islands and the DIFC.  He has appeared as counsel in commercial arbitrations conducted under ICC, LCIA, DIFC-LCIA, SIAC, DIAC, AAA, SCC and UNCITRAL rules (as well as ad hoc arbitrations) in a wide range of disputes with seats in London, New York, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Miami, Hong Kong, Singapore and Stockholm. By virtue of this experience, he is well accustomed to acting as counsel against opponents from other jurisdictions.
