Yesterday, the DTI (in association with the Welsh Office) issued the latest proposals concerning changes to the Construction Act.
The DTI’s press release is at:

The new paper is entitled "Improving payment practices in the construction industry" and is at:
http://www.dti.gov.uk/construction/hgcra/consultanalysis.pdf
It is the latest round of the Government’s review of the Construction Act that Gordon Brown initiated in the March 2004 Budget.
The paper analyses the results of the March 2005 consultation paper and the 356 responses received by the deadline of June 2005. It sets out the Government’s proposals for change and a timetable. In Spring 2006 another consultation paper on amendments is due. From the results of that paper conclusions should be drawn in time for the 2006-7 parliamentary session.
