Reserve Bank of India ("RBI") has deferred the implementation of its Amendment Directions on Capital Market Exposures from April 1, 2026, to July 1, 2026, following representations from banks, capital market intermediaries and industry associations on operational and interpretational issues. The revised changes primarily clarify the framework for acquisition finance, including its extension to mergers and amalgamations, its availability only for acquisition of control over a non-financial target company, conditions for on lending through subsidiaries, refinance parameters and guarantee requirements.
