Kedaara Fund IV is a SEBI-registered fund invested in the financial services and logistics sectors, which is why the increment is so small. The investment managers are Nish Capital Investment Advisors LLP and Kedaara Capital Business Services LLP, and the Kedaara group is ultimately controlled by Manish Kejriwal, Sunish Sharma, and Nishant Sharma.

An agreed refinancing can fail if an existing creditor acts before the new financing closes. Once enforcement rights arise over pledged assets, one creditor’s action can affect control, trigger rights under another financing arrangement or leave the asset unavailable to the new lender. Defending enforcement action is not the problem but dealing with existing creditor rights, releasing the required security and putting the new financing in place before those rights are exercised.

A valuable asset does not solve a debt problem if it cannot generate cash before the debt falls due for long term projects, like infrastructure projects and engineering groups. Projects, operating businesses and long-term investments may take years to generate or release cash, while holding-company debt falls due on a fixed date. The group has to turn its assets into cash, refinance the debt or extend the maturity before the choices become more limited.

NLIAIF manages AIFs in India and sits under Nippon Life India Asset Management Limited (‘NAMI’), of which Nippon Life Insurance Company, Japan holds 71.93%.
