Ministry of Labour and Employment permits voluntary Aadhaar authentication for verification of user details on the Shram Suvidha Portal

The Ministry of Labour and Employment (“MoLE”), through Notification S.O. 4831(E), published in the Gazette of India on September 1, 2026 (“Notification”), has notified the use of Aadhaar authentication for verifying user details in modules available on the Shram Suvidha Portal. The Notification has been issued under Rule 5 of the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance (Social Welfare, Innovation, Knowledge) Rules, 2020, read with Section 4(4)(b)(ii) of the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016. It supersedes the Ministry’s earlier Notification S.O. 2523(E) dated May 15, 2026, except in respect of actions already taken or omissions occurring before such supersession.
