中国新闻出版研究院完成“2020年中国版权产业经济贡献”调研报告。调研显示：从2016年至2020年，中国版权产业的行业增加值已从5.46万亿元人民币增长至7.51万亿元人民币，产业规模增幅38%；从对国民经济的贡献来看，中国版权产业占GDP的比重由2016年的7.33%增长至2020年的7.39%，提高了0.06个百分点，占比呈稳步提升的态势；从年均增速来看，2016年至2020年间，中国版权产业行业增加值的年均增长率为8.3%，高于同期GDP 0.2个百分点。
2020年，在新冠肺炎疫情的冲击下，书报刊等传统产业有所下滑，但以软件和信息技术服务、数字出版、网络视听等为代表的新兴产业发展态势良好，在疫情防控期间实现逆势增长，成为中国核心版权产业稳中向好的重要保障。2020年中国核心版权产业的行业增加值达到4.75万亿元人民币，同比增长3.5%，占全部版权产业的比重达63%。
