Canada's immigration framework offers multiple pathways for businesses to hire foreign talent, from temporary work permits to permanent residency programs. Understanding the complex interplay between federal regulations, provincial requirements, and employer compliance obligations is essential for companies seeking to leverage global talent while navigating Labour Market Impact Assessments, the International Mobility Program, and rigorous documentation standards.

Business Immigration

Business immigration and global mobility have become important factors in the growth of Canada and the Canadian economy. The federal government has recently announced plans to welcome 380,000 immigrants per year over the next three years. This, combined with a recognized shortage of domestic skill sets, means more companies are relying on temporary foreign workers to address labour and/or skill shortages.

Canadian immigration law is made up of federal and provincial laws, associated regulations and ministerial instructions. Collectively, it governs the ability of individuals who are neither Canadian citizens nor permanent residents to be lawfully admitted to Canada either to visit, study, work or settle permanently.
