Sont compris dans les messages électroniques commerciaux les courriels, les messages textes et les messages transmis par l'entremise des médias sociaux d'une entreprise à une autre, d'une entreprise à un consommateur ou même entre particuliers. En plus de toutes les autres activités réglementées, la Loi canadienne anti-pourriel interdit l'envoi de messages électroniques commerciaux à un destinataire à moins que celui-ci y ait consenti et que le message contienne certains
