The 36 Group

Set overviews: England and Wales

Multidisciplinary set The 36 Group offers specialist counsel across the fields of crime, commercial, family, public and human rights, as well as commodities and shipping. Chambers, which was joined by members of 4 Field Court and Stone Chambers in 2018, provides ‘a cost-effective service’ and are 'excellent value for money’ with ‘a down-to-earth and friendly ethos that fosters strong relationships with instructing solicitors’. The 36 Crime team has expanded of late following the arrival of John Cammegh and Adrian Amer from 9 Bedford Row, and James Bide-Thomas and Helen Marley from No.1 High Pavement Chambers. This followed the appointment of Julie Warburton, Rebecca Herbert, Georgina Gibbs, and Steven Evans as circuit judges. Elsewhere in chambers, Madeleine Heal (formerly of New Square Chambers) and Ceri Davis (sole practitioner) joined 36 Commercial, while dual-qualified barrister Jamsheed Peeroo (England and Wales, and Mauritius) and arbitrator Doran Doeh (formerly of Dentons) have joined 36 Stone. The clerking team is ‘second to none’ and ‘will move heaven and earth to assist’ solicitors. ‘Energetic and enthusiastic’ family practice manager Danny Chapman is ‘incredibly efficient and pushing chambers to the forefront of the family law market’; first junior Ashley London is ‘astute, sociable, and down to earth’, while second junior Adam Cope is ‘a strong junior clerk who is making his mark and gaining an enviable reputation’. Other names to note in the clerks’ room include Michelle Simpson (criminal practice manager), Steven Newbery (commercial practice manager), and Everton Wedderburn (senior clerk public and human rights). In recent clerking news, former 36 Stone senior clerk Luke Irons has moved to MAITLAND CHAMBERS, while the ‘standout’ Zoe Bluck has arrived from Tanfield Chambers as the new pratice and business development manager for 36 Stone.
