Career

Lerato is an associate in Dentons' Johannesburg office. She is a member of the Construction, Infrastructure and PPP team. Her focus is on contentious and non-contentious infrastructure and PPP projects. She has assisted with advising clients regarding construction-related adjudication and arbitration proceedings as well as the drafting of opinions relating to matters that arise in construction, infrastructure and PPP projects.

Lerato has advised both public and private sector clients on the legal regime of public procurement in South Africa, and its implications in various contexts. She has experience in public sector commercial transactions and regulation, with a focus on public procurement law, broad-based black economic empowerment (in relation to procurement), administration law, constitutional law, the law relating to access of information and other aspects of regulatory law.

Lerato also has experience in general commercial litigation. Her litigation experience includes: drafting applications, affidavits and notices in opposed and unopposed motion proceedings for Magistrates’ Court and High Court matters as well as arbitrations; briefing counsel and attending consultations with counsel; and drafting legal opinions on various aspects of law with particular emphasis on civil procedure, consumer law, the law of contract, commercial law and statutory interpretation.
