Russian Tax and Customs practice

Position

Galina heads the customs law group in the Russian Tax and Customs practice. She has more than 20 years of experience advising on all aspects of customs regulation, including audit of foreign trade and customs transactions by participants in foreign trade; assisting with customs inspections; structuring import/export deals; due diligence and recommendations on drafting  foreign trade contracts and contracts with suppliers of customs services; advising on goods classification, customs value, country of origin, the use of different customs procedures and customs incentives; negotiations with the customs authorities at various levels; appealing decisions of the customs authorities: supporting equipment import deals; providing foreign trade participants with practical assistance in preparing documents for customs clearance and other issues of customs regulation.

Galina has extensive experience working with government authorities of the Russian Federation and with the Eurasian Economic Commission. She participates in expert boards and working groups drafting customs legislation and regulations.

From 2013 through 2015 Galina was general director at the Center for Support of Foreign Trade and Development of the Regions, and from 1998 through 2013 she headed the customs and foreign trade practice at the Russian branch of audit firm EY. Before that, Galina worked at the State Customs Committee (currently the Federal Customs Service) of Russia as Head of the International Law subdivision in the Legal Department.
