Position

Sharon Cook (formerly Poorak) is a Partner in Seyfarth Shaw LLP’s national Business Immigration Practice Group. She focuses her business immigration law practice primarily on H, L, PERM, I140 and related I485 issues. Sharon represents corporate clients in a wide variety of industries, developing comprehensive immigration plans to ensure consistency among filed applications and compliance with all applicable regulations.

Career

Sharon has practiced immigration law for over 30 years and is based in Atlanta, GA. Sharon has worked with the Alston & Bird law firm in the Atlanta, GA office. Prior to joining Seyfarth Shaw, she served the majority of her career as a partner in an immigration boutique firm. She has also served as Director of Education with the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) in Washington, DC for two years and Director of the Detention Project for Catholic Social Services. She co-founded the Atlanta AILA chapter’s pro bono committee, is a recipient of the AILA National Pro Bono Award, was elected as the first female Chapter Chair of the Atlanta AILA Chapter and has served on the Board of Governor’s for AILA National. Sharon was a guest lecturer on business immigration law at Georgia State University School of Law. She has appeared with previous law partners before the US Supreme Court. Sharon is a frequent speaker, writer, and lecturer on immigration law topics. In addition, she has served on numerous local and national AILA liaison committees throughout her years of practice. Sharon is also ranked in “Band 1” by Chambers USA in immigration law.
