Guillermo Puelles specializes in corporate restructuring, insolvency and liquidation, as well as mergers & acquisitions, distressed companies financing, global insurance matters, aviation financing and insurance, competition law, and consumer protection.

He leads the Firm’s Restructuring and Insolvency, and Insurance and Reinsurance practices. He also has experience in administrative litigation related to competition law and consumer protection.

He advises on the negotiation and execution of corporate financing, mergers and acquisitions involving distressed companies, private or bankruptcy liquidations, and both public and private restructuring and insolvency procedures. Over the course of his career, he has been involved in some of the most significant bankruptcy cases in the country.

In 2010, he was appointed by the World Bank to prepare the Peru chapter of its global report on insolvency and creditors' rights. He is the only Peruvian member of the International Insolvency Institute, a globally recognized organization of leading insolvency professionals.

In the insurance sector, he advises insurance and reinsurance companies on regulatory, civil, and corporate matters; handling claims and coverages; aerospace insurance and reinsurance; among others.

Guillermo has worked in the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (INDECOPI). He teaches Civil Law at Universidad del Pacífico (UP) and has been a professor of Bankruptcy Law in graduate programs at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP, 2008) and Universidad de Piura (UP, 2014). He published the book Procedimientos Concursales (2013) at the request of INDECOPI, one of the publications celebrating the twentieth anniversary of that institution, in addition to various academic publications.

Various publications, such as Chambers & Partners, Legal 500, and Leaders League, recognize him as one of the best lawyers in the field of restructuring and insolvency.
