PPP Tier 2
The PPP team at Norton Rose Fulbright provides comprehensive advice to public sector organisations, sponsors, project companies and financial institutions on matters ranging from project structuring through to the conclusion of project and financing agreements. A focus lies on work touching upon construction and environmental law, privatisations and restructurings. Another core competence is handling projects in the transport sector. Dirk Trautmann and Michael Jürgen Werner, who divides his time between the firm’s Brussels and Frankfurt offices, jointly head the team. Norton Rose Fulbright predominately acts for lenders and advises them, in conjunction with various other departments and colleagues from other European offices, on financing matters concerning energy and infrastructure projects. Anthony Morton and Hamburg-based Timo Noftz, who assists lenders, lessors, lessees and sponsors alongside project companies and other corporate entities with national and international financing and leasing transactions for aircrafts, ships and railways, are key names. Counsel Felix Dinger, of counsel Sebastian Frech and Christian Filippitsch, who is the key contact for antitrust law, are other names to note.
Equity capital markets Tier 4
The ‘good’ ECM practice at Norton Rose Fulbright is noted for its ‘quick response times’ and is increasingly active for banks but the team also advises issuers on IPOs, capital increases and other capital markets transactions, utilising its strong M&A experience. Benedikt Gillessen and practice head Frank Regelin are the names to note.
Norton Rose Fulbright’s M&A team stands out for its ‘fast processing and broad knowledge’. It has specialist expertise in energy and infrastructure, insurance, agribusiness and technology as well as in capital markets transactions. Newly promoted partner Marco Niehaus ‘keeps a close eye on related fields thanks to his extensive experience in complex deals’ and Katrin Stieß is ‘reactive, unbureaucratic’ and ‘confines herself to the essentials’. Maritime and shipping Tier 4
Under Timo Noftz’ leadership, Norton Rose Fulbright acts for commercial and investment banks, lessors, shipping companies, charterers, shipyards, P&I clubs and ship operators on all aspects of maritime commercial law. It focuses on ship financing, the purchase and sale of ships as well as restructuring and insolvency advice. Real estate Tier 4
Norton Rose Fulbright is rated for its ‘high level of know-how’ and focuses on transactional work in the hotel and logistics sectors and on project development and financing work. ‘Goal-oriented negotiator’ Patrick Narr ‘handles deals confidently’; Maren Stölting, team head Stefan Feuerriegel, Thomas Hopf and of counsel Sven-Christoph Riepke are also noted. Katrin Scheicht moved to Pusch Wahlig Workplace Law in May 2018 and counsel Matthias Fischer joined Allen & Overy LLP in August 2017.
