Position

Jan Erik Janssen assists clients with their most sensitive regulatory issues in administrative and civil litigation and before competition authorities, regulators and policy makers. His experience covers sector-specific regulation, competition, FDI and sustainability issues and EU law (including State aid and public procurement). Jan Erik has been involved in high-profile enforcement cases of regulators and has been the lead lawyer in litigation that has shaped the energy regulatory regime in the Netherlands, including landmark cases on tariff regulation in the electricity, gas and heat sectors, on grid congestion issues and in disputes relating to energy, hydrogen, EV and water infrastructure.

Jan Erik is a founding editor of the Netherlands Journal for Energy Law, has been described a “legal authority” in the energy sector, been voted best energy lawyer in the Netherlands by his peers and been ranked a leading (band 1) energy sector lawyer for more than two decades in the authoritative directories.
