Coen Thomas is a partner Stek’s corporate group, with a strong focus on the (renewable) energy sector. Coen represents developers, sponsors, investors, financiers and market parties in relation to the development, financing of and transactions in (large) projects, with a focus on the energy sector. Coen has extensive experience with innovative commercial contracts and has also worked on service contracts to support the transition to the circular economy. Before moving to Stek in 2021, Coen worked as a lawyer at Allen & Overy and NautaDutilh and in-house as Managing Counsel Projects EMEA at Shell.

Dirk de Graeff
Dirk de Graeff is a lawyer and senior associate in our Corporate M&A department. Dirk ‎advises Dutch and international private equity sponsors, founders, management teams and other corporate clients on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, investments and joint ventures. He also advises clients on general contractual issues and corporate governance matters. Dirk is recognized in the 2024 edition of the Legal 500 rankings as a key lawyer in the areas of “Private Equity” and “Commercial, Corporate & M&A”. Prior to joining Stek in July 2022, Dirk worked at Stibbe for seven years. During his time with Stibbe, he attended the MBA Highlights Programma at INSEAD in 2021.

Eelco Bijkerk is a partner in our Corporate group. Eelco advises private equity and venture capital firms, corporates and management teams on a wide variety of business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, joint ventures, minority investments, equity financing rounds, management participation schemes and divestures. Eelco also advises clients on general corporate law matters such as commercial contracts and governance matters.. Eelco regularly works with international law firms on cross-border transactions. Eelco has particular expertise in private equity related transactions.
Elias Ram
Elias Ram
Elias Ram is a senior corporate lawyer in our Corporate M&A department with a focus on domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buy-outs and corporate finance transactions. Elias acts for Dutch and international private equity sponsors, founders, management teams, family-owned companies and other corporate clients. He also advises clients on management incentive plans, W&I insurance as well corporate governance matters. In 2015 Elias obtained a Master’s degree in both Corporate Law and international and European Law at the Radboud University of Nijmegen. In that same year he started his career at NautaDutilh and was admitted to the Amsterdam Bar. In 2020 Elias joined Stek. In 2021 he completed the ‘Mergers & Acquisitions’ postgraduate specialization program at the VU University of Amsterdam (cum laude).

Gerben is a very experienced litigator and IMI Qualified mediator and co-heads the Dispute Resolution group. His practice covers the full range of corporate and commercial dispute resolution, with an emphasis on M&A related disputes, directors’ and professional liability, banking and finance litigation and tort and contractual liability. Gerben also has ample experience in representing shareholders, corporate entities and (supervisory)directors in corporate disputes before the Enterprise Chamber of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal (Ondernemingskamer). Gerben is a quick and strategic thinker who is able to find pragmatic and commercially driven solutions for his clients.

Herman Wamelink is a partner in our finance group. He advises banks, alternative lenders and borrowers on a broad range of debt finance transactions, often in a cross-border context. Herman specializes in leveraged finance (both bank lender deals and in debt fund transactions) and project finance both renewable energy (e.g. solar- and windfarms, geothermal energy, biogas projects, battery storage, networks and charging poles) and digital infrastructure. Herman also has extensive experience in general corporate lending (including asset base financing) He is part of Stek’s integrated Energy Team. Herman is recommended by Chambers, Legal 500 and IFLR as a leading banking & finance lawyer.

Jan Bart is an expert in commercial and corporate dispute resolution. His practice covers the entire range of dispute resolution, with a focus on banking and finance litigation, director’s and professional liability, M&A related disputes and follow-on (cartel) damage claims. Jan Bart has extensive experience in large corporate investigations. He advises various (listed) companies and financial institutions on corporate and obligatory issues and liability. Jan Bart was a senior lawyer in the Litigation & Arbitration and Banking & International Capital Markets departments of Allen & Overy. Jan Bart publishes regularly and is a lecturer at the Law Firm School on discovery and evidence. He is also a lecturer at the Nyenrode Business University and a member of the Corporate Litigation Association and the Dutch Association for Procedural Law.

Jan Erik Janssen assists clients with their most sensitive regulatory issues in administrative and civil litigation and before competition authorities, regulators and policy makers. His experience covers sector-specific regulation, competition, FDI and sustainability issues and EU law (including State aid and public procurement). Jan Erik has been involved in high-profile enforcement cases of regulators and has been the lead lawyer in litigation that has shaped the energy regulatory regime in the Netherlands, including landmark cases on tariff regulation in the electricity, gas and heat sectors, on grid congestion issues and in disputes relating to energy, hydrogen, EV and water infrastructure. Jan Erik is a founding editor of the Netherlands Journal for Energy Law, has been described a “legal authority” in the energy sector, been voted best energy lawyer in the Netherlands by his peers and been ranked a leading (band 1) energy sector lawyer for more than two decades in the authoritative directories.
Jasper Stek
Jasper Stek
Jasper Stek is a co-founder of Stek and Of Counsel in Stek’s corporate and commercial team. He represents national and international clients in corporate transactions and advises on a variety of commercial contracts. In addition, he acts as arbitrator and as binding advisor and is regularly appointed as investigator by the Enterprise Chamber of the Court of Appeal in Amsterdam in corporate litigation matters. Jasper is a member of the Disciplinary Board of the Amsterdam Bar Association. He holds memberships of the International Bar Association, the Dutch Association for Corporate Litigation and the Rimari Foundation for court-appointed officers. Jasper is also vice-chair of the Board of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra / Netherlands Chamber Orchestra.

Jeroen is co-founder of Stek and partner in our corporate group. He advises on both national and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, investments and finance transactions. He regularly works with international firms on cross-border matters. In addition, Jeroen has a special focus on the aviation sector. In the aviation sector Jeroen has years of experience in (international) transactions concerning the leasing, acquisition, sale, and financing of a variety of aircraft types (commercial aircraft, business jets and helicopters). His clients include aircraft leasing companies, financiers, operators and other market parties. Furthermore, Jeroen has advised on the acquisition, sale and joint ventures of a number of airlines and represents parties active in the sustainable aviation sector.

Katinka is a counsel in our Finance Group. She advises banks, alternative lenders and borrowers on a broad range of debt finance transactions, often in a cross-border context. Katinka’s key area of expertise is project finance, with an emphasis on financings within the energy transition (e.g. solar- and windfarms, geothermal energy, biogas projects, battery storage, networks and charging poles) and digital infrastructure. She also frequently advises on real estate- and leisure finance transactions. Katinka is part of Stek’s integrated Energy Team.
Kelly Visser-van der Vooren
Kelly Visser-van der Vooren
Kelly Visser-van der Vooren heads our practice group Restructuring & Insolvency. Kelly has a wealth of experience. During her 11 years at A&O Shearman, she has proven herself a highly skilled and excellent lawyer in the field of (financial) restructuring and financing, with a wide range of experience working for financial institutions, large corporations and private equity houses. Her six years’ in-house experience within the financial restructuring and recovery department at a global financial institution is also a strong asset upon which she has been able to build. Kelly has advised on high profile (international and domestic) cases, implementing a variety of restructuring tools, including the (relatively new) ‘WHOA’ scheme.

Maarten also served as legal counsel in the Office of the General Counsel of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London. He is admitted to the Bar in the Netherlands in 1995 and admitted to the New York Bar in 1996. Maarten is a qualified legal mediator (IMI).

Max is a counsel in the dispute resolution department. He is an expert in cross border Litigation & Arbitration. His practice covers the entire range of dispute resolution, with a focus on contractual liability, director’s and shareholder’s liability, M&A related disputes, follow-on (cartel) damage claims, fraud and proceedings regarding the recognition, enforcement and annulment of (arbitral) awards. Max has acted as counsel in (international) arbitrations under, inter alia, the ICC, DIAC, NAI, CEPANI and other arbitration rules. Max is recognized in the Legal 500 rankings as a key lawyer in the area of “Dispute resolution: Commercial litigation”. In 2019 Max successfully completed the Grotius post graduate course on international commercial contracting.

With over 25 years of experience working for clients in the energy sector, he advised on a range of power, gas, heat, E&P, hydrogen, geothermal, (battery) storage, solar, (offshore and onshore) wind, biogas and biomass transactions and projects. Reijnoud is ranked as a leading energy transaction and projects lawyer in Legal 500 and Chambers Europe (band 1).

Ruben advises private equity firms, corporates and financial institutions on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, restructurings and other corporate law issues. He also regularly works with international law firms on cross-border transactions. Ruben has vast experience in private equity transactions such as management buy-outs and management incentive plans. He advises investors, founders and management teams. Ruben also regularly acts for underwriters providing warranty and indemnity insurance.

Sharon Kaufmann is a partner in Stek's finance group. She specializes in banking and finance with a focus on hospital financing, project financing and real estate and asset based financing transactions. Key clients in this area are ABN Amro Bank, BNG, Deutsche Bank, ING Bank and Rabobank. Before she joined Stek in 2012, Sharon was an associate in the banking & finance and insolvency departments at Houthoff Buruma. Sharon regularly teaches, amongst others in the field of insolvency law.

Simon Boersen
Simon is a partner in our Dispute Resolution group. He is a determined and experienced litigator. He specializes in complex commercial litigation, with an emphasis on contractual and tort-law liability, and the enforcement of court orders and arbitral awards. His extensive experience includes cases involving fraud, contractual disputes, competition damages litigation, corporate-transaction disputes, arbitration and cross-border enforcement. Simon has a particular interest in private international law and procedural law. He regularly contributes to legal journals on these areas of law and also teaches in several post-academic programs for legal professionals.

Veii Jacobs is a partner in the regulatory practice group. She is an administrative law expert and advises and litigates on predominantly energy law matters (renewables, heat, electricity, gas and REMIT), environmental law (environmental regulations and spatial planning law) matters and general administrative law (enforcement and subsidies). Veii represents large energy companies, industrials, grid operators and their respective industry associations in legal proceedings vis-à-vis authorities and regulators and she works closely together with other members of the multidisciplinary Energy Team pertaining to the administrative law aspects of (renewable) energy projects and transactions (solar, wind, geothermal energy, green hydrogen, battery storage and CCS/CCSU). Veii regularly publishes and teaches in her field of expertise.
