Alessandra, who has 15+ years of professional experience in the field of IT and data protection, has a wealth of experience supporting national and international companies in assessing, managing and monitoring the correct development of projects and products based and centred on new technologies (i.e., blockchain, artificial intelligence, IoT) and data (personal and non) in full compliance with national and European laws.  Of note is Alessandra’s work in the area of Data Protection - which has led her to hold the position of Data Protection Advisor and Data Protection Officer (DPO) for a number of companies operating in a range of sectors – including distribution, manufacturing, banking, utilities, and insurance services.

Angelo Ciro del Duca
Angelo Ciro del Duca, who is in charge of the firm’s Naples office, coordinates the work of EY’s Restructuring practice in Southern Italy.  Of particular note is his work leading the firm’s Seized & Confiscated Assets team - a position he has held since 2016. Angelo, with over 15+ years of experience in the field of Corporate Crisis and Insolvency Law, is extremely well versed in providing counsel on the preventive measures of Judicial Administration established by the Italian Anti-Mafia Code – for both extrajudicial and judicial activities. He regularly speaks at seminars on a wide range of Italian insolvency law issues, as well as on the subject of corporate restructuring and company assets under the preventive measures (sequestration and seizure) overseen by the Italian Judicial Administration pursuant to the Italian Anti-Mafia Code.

EY Partner Antonella de Simone boasts 20+ years of experience providing counsel to clients on Italian Administrative Law and Public Procurement. She also has a notable experience advising on EU funded projects and programmes and has worked with numerous Italian Ministries and regional authorities – including the Italian the Ministry of the Interior, the Piemonte Region, the Calabria Region, Marche Region and the Territorial Cohesion Agency. Antonella is also well versed in providing strategic advice on reorganisation processes for the procurement departments of Italian Public Administrations, in particular in the field of logistics procurement and legal training. She is a co-author of the publication Il contenzioso tra banche e Clienti ( Litigation between Banks and Clients) which was published by Wolters Kluwer Italia in 2017.

Christian Busca is a Partner of EY TAX & LAW ITALY’s Corporate and M&A team. He has a consolidated experience assisting both national and international clients on a range of M&A, corporate and commercial matters, especially in the consumer products, industrial products and advanced technologies sectors. Over the last years, he has dedicated to servicing of corporate NPEs, providing due diligence, management and compliance advice on this matter. Of note is Christian’s work advising on transnational and multidisciplinary projects: in this framework, he is leading a platform for full servicing of corporate NPEs.

Daniele Caneva
Daniele Caneva is the EY Law Leader for Italy and Head of the Intellectual Property department at EY TAX & LAW ITALY. His practice focuses on advising national and international clients on a wide range of Intellectual Property matters in addition to assisting clients, from a strategic point of view, with portfolio management. He also has a wealth of experience working with clients on contentious matters in order to protect and defend their intellectual assets. Clients include major domestic and international luxury and fashion, pharmaceutical, automotive, media, entertainment, publishing and software companies. Daniele truly stands out for his initiative to better protect clients’ intellectual assets – both tangible and intangible – through the valorization and defence of know-how within the context of ‘Patent Box’ and a pioneering ‘Master Book’. Also of note is his extensive experience assisting clients with industrial and intellectual property contracts - including the negotiation of complex agreements for the exploitation of patents and know-how. Daniele Caneva is also specialized in advising clients on labelling and “Made in Italy”.

Elena Carpani is a Partner of EY TAX & LAW ITALY and one of the original founding members of the firm’s Intellectual Property team which was established when she arrived in April 2019. She focuses her practice on providing counsel to national and international  clients - operating in the fashion, luxury, lifestyle and design, NFT and metaverso sectors - on a wide range of  intellectual property matters in the fields of  trademarks, advertising & media – including the protection and commercialisation of their IP assets. Elena has a wealth of experience confronting competitors on behalf of her clients over unfair claims relating to intellectual assets and advertising – as well as defending her clients when their IP asset claims are challenged. Of note is her extensive litigation experience advising on unfair competition matters especially in the field of advertising of consumer products. This is in addition to the counsel she provides on the New Deal for Consumers which essentially has opened up the Italian market to consumer Class Actions.

Giovanni Casucci is a Partner on EY’s Intellectual Property team. Giovanni’s practice has been exclusively dedicated to Intellectual Property law for 30+ years. Giovanni has wealth of experience representing leading corporations before the Italian courts in complex cross border litigation cases on patent, design and trademarks also involving antitrust issues - as well advising on technology transfers and licensing. Of note is the work Giovanni does as an external advisor for IP matters to the Republic of San Marino having contributed to the adoption of their IP Code in 2005 and advising on legislative updates.

Luigi has been a member of the EY team since 2002 With more than 35 years of work experience, he has provided out-of-court professional assistance to large and medium-sized Italian and international companies on a variety of matters related to IT, internet law, personal data protection, industrial law and new technologies. He has also assisted national and international clients on Data Privacy matters in a number of extraordinary M&A and joint-venture transactions. Luigi has developed a special in-depth focus on IT law, data security, data protection and in reference to digital signatures, invoicing and electronic document storage. He holds the position of Data Protection Officer (DPO) for several companies in various sectors.

Marco Nazareno Mizzau is the Head of the firm’s Restructuring and Insolvency team for Northern Italy and is based in the Milan office.  With 15+ years of experience, he has built up a strong experience in Corporate and Business Restructuring Law and is noted for his deep knowledge of the Italian Code of Business Crisis and Insolvency – and in particular its impact on other branches of corporate and civil law. In particular Marco Nazareno handles for his clients a wide range of important legal aspects, including: corporate restructuring procedures through extrajudicial and/or judicial tools; so-called “'distressed M&A”' extraordinary acquisition transactions; assistance in judicial proceeding such as liability actions against management and corporate bodies, as well as in ordinary and bankruptcy claw back actions. Marco Nazareno Mizzau, who is recognised by clients and colleagues for his great precision and for the care he takes in all phases of the restructuring process no matter how complex, regularly assists public and private clients - especially those active in the real estate, transportation, oil and gas, fashion, and public services sectors. Maria, with 20+ year of experience providing counsel on Administrative Law, Public Contracts, Anti-Corruption, is the Administrative Law Practice at EY. She has a wealth of experience advising major public entities in relation to public tenders – as well as advising bodies such as the Italian Ministry of the Interior, the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and Italian Regions on the administration of European Union Funding. This is in addition to her work providing counsel on the reorganization process of the companies owned by Public Administrations. Maria is particularly noted for her advice on legal matters relating to the management of integrated water services – especially when it comes to providing legal assistance on public tenders for the selection of private minority shareholders of mixed capital companies.

She has more than twenty years’ experience in assisting international groups, Italian public and private companies, private equity funds and investment banks in relation to significant extraordinary and real estate transactions involving activities with a high environmental and energy impact, environmental policies and responsibilities and risk management. Maria Cristina has extensive expertise in assisting clients in structuring and implementing innovative energy transition business projects and green economy and sustainability models applied to industrial and energy sectors as well as in advising on projects in the field of conventional and renewable sources with reference to contractual, authorization profiles, negotiation with the Public Administration and litigation. She also provides legal support in sustainable finance operations, ESG regimes applicable to entities operating in regulated markets and environmental, climate change and ESG liability litigation.

Maria Teresa Iannella is a Labor & Employment Law Partner of EY TAX & LAW ITALY. Her practice focuses on providing labor law advice, handling mergers and acquisitions, and addressing labor-related matters concerning corporate operations, reorganization, and restructuring, as well as international mobility. Maria Teresa, together with her team, manages the labor aspects of numerous domestic and international M&A projects throughout the year – working closely together with other EY Service Lines as well as EY offices worldwide. She is also well versed in providing counsel on restructurings, reorganisations, collective bargaining agreements and global mobility matters.  This is in addition to the day-to-day counsel she provides in terms of strategic human resource management, contracts, company policies on several items, including the labor risks linked to the service contracts and suppliers.
Massimo Giaconia
Massimo Giaconia, who is a Of Counsel to EY TAX & LAW ITALY, has a significant knowledge of financial industry including leasing, pharmaceutical industry, information technology, oil and gas, industrial and consumer products, because of several engagements from clients in Italy, Europe and the US. He is involved in several Transfer Pricing Projects. Prior to joining the firm in 2020, he was Head of Tax at Baker & McKenzie and before Tax Partner of Ernst & Young. In 1999, he was also in charge of the Italian Tax Desk of Ernst & Young in New York City. He is often lecturer in conferences and seminars on taxation organized by Business Schools, specialized entities and Industrial Associations.

Mattia is a Partner of the firm and the Leader of EY’s Energy and Efficiency Legal Department. He has specific and extensive expertise in the energy and efficiency sector with a strong network of clients and relations, having an extensive Italian and international experience in the energy, oil & gas, and infrastructure sectors, as well as in commodities trading (e.g., oil, gas, LNG, coal, metals), e-mobility and energy transition projects.   In these fields, Mattia assists clients with respect to corporate, contractual and regulatory matters.   He regularly advises some of the leading Italian and foreign companies in these sectors on, amongst others: the development, construction, operation, maintenance and financing of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects; M&A and extraordinary transactions; procurement, distribution and supply of commodities, chemical products, goods and services, PPA, SLA, access to transmission grids and facilities, also on a cross-border basis; access to regulated assets and facilities, participation to public tenders and structuring of contractual structure and strategy on the market (both wholesale and final customer); and design and development of transactions and solutions aimed at support the energy transition.

Michele is a Partner of the firm, Head of the Regulatory practice and leader of the FSO (Financial Services Organisation) Law department for EY Italy. He has 20+ years of legal acumen – focusing his practice on providing Banking Law and Financial Regulatory counsel. Of note is his wealth of experience advising regulated entities in the banking, financial, investment and insurance fields. Oriana is a Partner of EY TAX & LAW ITALY and is Head of the firm’s Infrastructures and Project Finance team. She has a strongly established experience in energy, infrastructure and project finance market, both in Italy and abroad providing legal assistance in all phases of Project Finance transactions (i.e. due diligence, transaction structuring, drafting, assistance in negotiation, signing and closing of finance documents). Oriana has also gained significant experience in: the public-private partnership sector, having assisted primary domestic multi-utility companies in drafting, structuring and negotiating of PPP proposals in the following areas: (i) energy requalification of public building on EPC basis; (ii) electrification of public transport; (ii) construction and operation of waste to chemical plants; and M&A transactions in infrastructure and energy sector.

Orsola is a lawyer leading the Insurance practice of the FSO (Financial Services Organisation) Law department for EY Italy. She has 15+ years of experience in the financial services law market and, in particular, in the insurance sector. Her practice is focused on providing counsel in the insurance, re-insurance and financial services sectors. Of note, Orsola has a strong experience of advising on complex insurance regulatory issues, compliance and intermediation, assisting insurers and intermediaries also in proceedings before the public Authorities like IVASS (i.e. the local insurance regulatory authority). Orsola also has experience in litigation in front of Italian Civil Courts. Valerio Vinci
Valerio, who is a member of the EY’s Environment, Climate Change & Sustainability team, focuses his practice on providing counsel to both companies and Public bodies. He has a wealth of experience advising clients on environmental law and administrative law matters, both with regard to extrajudicial advice - including legal due diligence activities, and disputes before administrative Courts. In the area of environmental law, Valerio provides counsel on a wide range of matters – including: circular economy, waste management, remediation proceedings, air, water and noise pollution, environmental permits, environmental impact assessment, and major accident hazards – here in particular the "Seveso" legislation. In more detail, his administrative law counsel for companies and public bodies encompasses legal advice on town planning, construction, expropriations, gas distribution and public procurement competitions. Valerio is also noted for his extensive experience advising oil and gas companies on environmental law regulations which may impact their large-scale infrastructure projects. He also provides extrajudicial assistance, including due diligence activities, in the field of workplace health and safety, with particular reference to the following matters: compliance with health and safety provisions pursuant to Legislative Decree no. 81/2008; liability of employer, head of prevention and protection service and competent doctor.
