Career

Rezan Ökten is a partner and head of Transfer Pricing at Dentons’ Amsterdam office. He advises clients on business restructurings, intellectual property, headquarters cost allocation models, financial transactions and valuations, as well as assisting in dispute management and resolution. His deep and significant experience includes advance pricing agreements, tax audits, mutual agreement procedures and court proceedings.

Starting his career at a Big Four firm, Rezan went on to head the transfer pricing practice of an Amsterdam law firm. His experience also includes working as a global in-house transfer pricing specialist of leading telecommunications and technology companies. His exceptional blend of knowledge and experience, gained on both sides of the table, allows Rezan to provide a 360-degree perspective. This is at the heart of how he advises clients. With a clear vision and technically sound approach, he knows when to go the extra mile or be pragmatic to get the buy-in from stakeholders.

In addition to being a fellow at the University of Amsterdam’s Advanced LL.M. program in International Tax Law, Rezan teaches master classes on transfer pricing at IBFD. A regular speaker at conferences, he has written several articles on transfer pricing aspects of intangibles and cost contribution arrangements. He has also authored a book and co-authored various transfer pricing books.

Cross-border tax mandates form the basis of Dentons’ practice, which brings strength to transactional, transfer pricing and tax controversy matters. The practice is led by Jurjen Bevers, a specialist in restructuring and M&A taxes tied to the oil and gas, construction and shipping sectors; and Heico Reinoud, who assists clients with taxes linked to international transactions. Rezan Ökten joined the team from Houthoff in June 2023 to head the transfer pricing team, advising on restructurings, headquarters cost allocation models and contentious matters. Wesley Boldewijn joined the partnership in April 2023, with a focus on digital economy taxation and transfer pricing.

The real estate team at Dentons handles a mixture of transactional, commercial leasing and disputes work for its varied client base of international and domestic companies. The practice has also been assisting international real estate investors in acquisitions and cross-border matters. Team lead Dirk-Jan Gondrie is specialised in real estate transactions and advises both Dutch and international investors on real estate sales, acquisitions, leasing and restructurings. Notable team members include Wendela Raas, who is known for her skills in commercial leasing matters; Paul Wanders, who handles both transactions and litigation; and Jeroen le Clercq, who is a key contact for landlord and tenant and rent disputes. Femke de Wolf assists the team in all matters. Further strengthening the practice, Rezan Ökten joined the firm in June 2023 from Houthoff.
