Career

Javiera Méndez joined Larrain y Asociados in 2019. Her expertise areas are energy and gas, public law and regulated services.

She studied Law at the Universidad de Chile, and was admitted with highest distinction in 2003. Besides, she obtained in 2008 a Master’s degree in Economic Law, granted by the same university.

Javiera worked at the National Energy Commission (2010-2019), where she was Deputy Head of the Legal Department. From this position, she actively participated in the regulatory development of the electricity and gas sector. Previously, she was an associate of Urrutia & Cía. (2005-2010) and attorney of the prosecutor of the Central Bank of Chile (2003-2005)

She is the author of article “The Gatekeepers of the Stock Market. A Complementary Strategy for External Control over Listed Companies ”. Magazine of the Master and Doctorate in Law No2, 2008. Law School, Graduate School, Universidad de Chile.
