Career
André de Almeida is the CEO and Founding Partner at Almeida Advogados, a full-service law firm with offices throughout Brazil. He has vast knowledge of Corporate Law, M&A, Commercial law, Compliance and Competition Law. He has extensive experience handling complex matters related to joint venture, tax and corporate restructuring and acquisition.
André was the leading attorney in the international corporate litigation case against Petrobras in the U.S.A, in a $2.95 billion reparation deal and also served as in-house counsel at the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington, D.C.
André is the author of the book entitled “A Maior Ação do Mundo: a História da Class Action Contra a Petrobras” and co-author of “Ensaios de Direito Corporativo – temas contemporâneos e tendências”.
Member of Globalaw’s Board of Directors. André was also the President of the Inter-American Bar Association (2011 – 2013), Member of the Commission of International Relations at the Brazilian Bar Association’s Federal Council (2012 – 2013), and Director of International Relations at the São Paulo Lawyers’ Institute (2013 – 2016).
Education
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from Pontifical Catholic University (Minas Gerais) as well as a Corporate Law Extension Certificate from Georgetown University and Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo – PUC-SP.
