Career
Ludovic Duarte is a partner at Eversheds Sutherland Switzerland. As a Certified Specialist SBA in Inheritance Law, he advises and assists Swiss and foreign private clients, families, entrepreneurs and family offices in wealth and estate planning as well as in all national and international matrimonial and inheritance law matters. His practice includes estate planning and structuring, including the judicial or extrajudicial enforcement of inheritance claims and the execution of wills. He also assists companies in their succession planning and implementation.
In the financial institutions sector group, Ludovic Duarte is a privileged contact for Swiss and foreign banks, asset managers and financial intermediaries. In the area of banking and financial market law, he advises financial institutions on regulatory and contractual issues, in the context of enforcement proceedings and internal investigations, and on all issues related to anti-money laundering regulations.
Ludovic Duarte also supports individuals, employers and pension funds in pension law matters. He is co-founder and vice-president of the Ivotes Association (“striving for independent votes“).
Ludovic Duarte studied law at the University of Neuchâtel (2002, lic. iur. magna cum laude) and was admitted to the bar of Bern in 2005. In 2010, he completed a Master in Business Administration at the Edinburgh Business School (Negotiation/M&A).
Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Ludovic Duarte was Legal Counsel at ATAG Wirtschaftsorganisationen AG in Bern (2006-2010), Senior Associate at Nobel & Hug Attorneys at Law in Zurich (2011-2017) and Partner at a business law firm in Zurich and Bern (2018-2020). In 2014, he also completed a three-month secondment at the law firm Sérvulo & Associados (Finance and Governance) in Lisbon.
As a member of the advisory board of a leading Italian company in the automotive and racing sector, Ludovic Duarte also has extensive expertise in the automotive industry and in racing (FIA regulations).
