Career

Karla is a Senior Associate of BLP in the San Jose office, Costa Rica. She specializes in the practice areas of Business Law and Real Estate & Hospitality.

Throughout her experience, she has advised national and international companies on day-to-day matters, as well as commercial agreements, corporate governance, advice for the start of company operations, and real estate matters. Her expertise also includes the review and implementation of corporate and tax structures and M&A transactions.

Karla distinguishes herself as a lawyer specialized in the handling of national and regional transactions, with skills in the organization of complex transactions, team management, and projects. She is certified as Legal Project Practitioner, which give her additional skills on project management. 

She actively participates in the review of complex contracts, mergers and acquisitions, shareholder agreements, advice on corporate governance issues and advice to companies in the real estate, pharmaceutical, medical devices, clean energy, and retail, among others. Her practice also includes the guidance of startup operations in the region.

Additionally, she participates actively with Sustainability by BLP, an initiative that aims to contribute to human and social development in the region, by providing legal services pro-bono and being an active volunteer of beneficiaries of this management, supporting the social responsibility program of the firm.

She joined the BLP team in 2011 as a legal assistant, was appointed associate in 2014 and in 2018 became a senior associate. Prior to joining the firm, she worked at BG & A Abogados as a legal assistant.
