Career

Oliver has a broad corporate and finance practice. He advises on all aspects of transactions involving Jersey or British Virgin Islands incorporated entities. On the finance side Oliver has advised on a number of high-profile project financings, asset financings, aviation financings, export financing, acquisition and cross-border leveraged financings. On the corporate side Oliver regularly works on notable corporate restructurings, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and listings.

Oliver trained and practised in Jones Day’s banking and finance team in London (with a secondment to Jones Day’s Dubai office) where he advised many of the world’s leading financial institutions including Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Standard Bank and Citibank, FTSE 100 borrowers and other capital providers. Oliver then joined the corporate and finance department of another international law firm in the British Virgin Islands where he assisted on some of the largest and most prominent BVI transactions, before returning to the Channel Islands where he is part of Ogier’s multi-disciplinary Corporate, Private Equity and Banking and Finance team (Jersey and BVI).

Oliver holds a BA and MA (Hons.) in law from the University of Oxford and a commendation from BBP London (LPC). He was a bursary student at Ogier and held a scholarship at Elizabeth College, Guernsey.

In 2021, Oliver received Jersey Law Society Prizes for the highest mark in the following Jersey Law Exams:

Ogier‘s corporate practice supports clients with matters ranging from cross-border private M&A, downstream private equity transactions and cashboxes, to restructurings and regulatory work. Practice head Matthew Shaxson specialises in financial services M&A, with further expertise in regulatory matters including AML and competition issues. Raulin Amy handles both cross-border and Jersey-based M&A, in addition to joint ventures and restructuring measures, while Simon Dinning advises on transactions that involve Jersey and the BVI. Richard Daggett handles private equity transactions, as well as advising on IPOs and joint ventures. Alexander Curry and Oliver Richardson both advise on a range of transactions, while managing associate Amy Garrod focuses on deals involving real estate holding structures.
