Advocate, Appellate Division, the Supreme Court of Bangladesh (2005).

Eminently adroit and veteran, Mr. K.M.Tanjib-ul Alam is a corporate lawyer practicing in Bangladesh, and works internationally across all aspects of commercial and corporate law.
Mr. Alam is considered as an expert in banking, syndication telecommunication, project finance, securitization, listing of public companies in stock exchange, advising foreign investors on regulatory matters. However, it would be amiss to state that this high bar was set by litigation alone. Over the years, Mr. Alam has not only been involved in litigation but he diversified his practice by being engaged with the regulatory and legislative bodies. He was involved in drafting the Bangladesh Telecommunication Act, Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Act, Information and Communication Technology Act, and the upcoming Broadcasting Act. He has recently completed his consultancy with IFC for drafting the new Companies Act for Bangladesh. He also advised International Chamber of Commerce regarding the Arbitration Rule and regarding incorporation of Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre (BIAC). Mr Alam’s involvement in consultancy roles with World Bank, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), IRIS and International Finance Corporation (IFC) illustrates his dexterity when it comes to corporate practice. Mr. Alam was also invited to the 4th Bangladesh Investment Summit on 26th April, 2016 and he chaired the ICAB and IFC Stakeholder Consultation Workshop on 11th October, 2011.

Recently, Mr Alam is playing a vital role (as the lead counsel) in advisory panel in the historic merger of two telecommunication giants, namely, Airtle and Robi. Indeed, from the beginning of the telecom business for private sector, Mr. Alam has been involved in almost all ground breaking telecom projects, most notably, the acquisition of Pacific Telecom by SingTel, acquisition of partial shares by NTT Docomo of Robi Axiata Bangladesh Limited, IPO of Grameen Phone Limited, acquisition of GrameenPhone IT Ltd. by Accenture.

Mr. Alam also volunteered for the NGOs, namely, Ain o Salish (1999-2008) and Bangladesh Legal Aid Services Trust (BLAST) (2004-2009) regarding the advising and framing policy on legal aid services, and protection of human rights.

Mr. Alam’s heterogeneity as a professional can also be illustrated by the fact that he sits in the Board of two of the most prestigious business entities of the country, namely, City Bank Limited. and Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

His journey as a lawyer started in the year of 1997 when he was called to the Bar of England and Wales and joined the chamber of Dr. Kamal Hossain and Associates. The following year, Mr Alam got enrolled as an advocate in High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. His fineness as a lawyer was exhibited when he was enrolled as an advocate of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh within just five years of his practise owing to his sterling and prodigious performance as a litigator. In the year of 2009, Mr. Alam embarked on a journey of building his own chambers, Tanjib Alam and Associates, which is now treated as the bench mark of excellence when it comes to corporate practice. At his chambers, Mr Alam prefers an open door policy to promote transparency and approachability in order to mould his associates in his own image.
