Position

Ian is a partner in the injury department with 40 years’ post-qualification experience. He acts for claimants who have suffered catastrophic injuries and represents claimants in a wide range of large complex claims involving lifechanging injuries, disease and fatalities. He has been described as ‘standout’.

Ian is committed, methodological and investigatory in his approach to claims. This serves claimant clients well in establishing liability in complex claims.  Ian has the patience and drive to get to the root of the case and succeed.

Historically Ian has also acted on behalf of defendants and insurers giving him the knowledge and experience to know how they are likely to respond to claims.  His most notable reported success was the Court of Appeal case of Hatton v Sutherland, a leading occupational stress claim.

Ian is approachable and builds strong relationships with those he represents and their families.
