Career

Hooi Ping regularly advises clients on employment-related issues that arise from setting up, reorganisation, closure, sale and acquisition of companies/businesses, local and cross-border transactions, and liquidation exercises. She is also heavily sought for advice on the exercise of managerial prerogatives, including the hiring and dismissal of employees.

Hooi Ping frequently works on dismissal disputes referred to and arising from reference by the Minister of Human Resources to the Industrial Court. She has earned her experience and expertise from years of working closely with senior partner, Lim Heng Seng, who heads the practice as well as regular joint advisories with corporate and tax partners of the firm. She has published numerous articles, including co-authoring with Heng Seng the Malaysian chapter in the global guide titled “How to Hire and Fire” by Multilaw of which LHAG is a member firm.

She is also an active presenter and has spoken on various topics, including employment cost-cutting measures and downsizing, flexible working arrangements as well as the recent amendments to the Employment Act 1955.

She is ranked by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2023 as a “Rising Star” under the Labour and Employment category. Her client has described her as “an excellent subject matter expert and is extremely responsive”.

Hooi Ping graduated from the University of Malaya and was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2013.
